EmGem: Introduction
Emissary (human characters story) and Gem Queens (alien characters story) is a merging of elements from my previous two creative projects (Expedition Clueless & Star Warrior) – essentially a “reboot.” Both are parallel stories and worldbuilding that will meet at some point, and are a way of expressing and using my main interests.
Synopsis: Fleeing societal collapse, a small crew embarks on an interstellar ship to another world, experiencing the wonder of encountering a new world and alien culture.
Background notes and changelog
14 February 2024
Story and world are abandoned again; lost interest. Archived like my previous projects.
18 October 2023
Renamed the alien planets and star after gems (based vaguely on their colors), a theme which I like. The arc number is now 6, so hexagons will be a recurring theme.

- The story is still percolating in my head, though I am still mentally and physically exhausted. If revived, it will be a bit different: some characters (such as Sergei) are no longer religious; aliens (if any) will be different. I feel more interest in my human characters now (particularly my old friends Sergei and Yurii).
- I have decided to use the cooler K1V star, with an amber-orange light. The aliens – if I include them – may be similar to the Sword-Arms with a bee-like hive structure, but they are still vague in concept at the moment, though they would be more peaceable and friendly (I just want a generally not-negative story and world).
December 2022
This project is now dormant in its version here, though I still have interest in it – but no mental or physical energy to continue working on it.
May 2022
- The project is essentially on hiatus, due to mental health issues and loss of the creative urge/muse.
- The story and world are much pared-down compared to that of Star Warrior, with an emphasis on “Hard” science fiction with realistic physics and technologies – so no instantaneous Faster-Than-Light travel between star systems or other “magical” technologies such as nanotech, for example (as the Star Warrior story used). The philosophy is generally that of the mundane science fiction movement.
- I am undecided between a hotter F9V or cooler K1V star for the aliens’ home system, so have included data for both, for now (the Dawn Hunter aliens of Star Warrior had a hotter F8V star for their home system). The color scheme for vegetation and so on will be different for each star. At the moment I am inclined towards the K1V star, just to differentiate the story from the Star Warrior version.
