Notes

  • The Progress ships are launched on a Soyuz rocket from Launch Complex 17P32-5, Area 1, Launch Pad 5, Baikonur Cosmodrome, Republic of Kazakhstan (Google Maps location). After being unloaded of their supplies, docked for several months and being filled with rubbish, the Progress ships are destroyed after re-entry into the atmosphere and burn up over the ocean. Sometimes they remain in autonomous orbit for a few days or weeks in order to perform various onboard experiments (indicated by a gap between undocking and deorbit).
  • Progress M ships are designated 7K-TGM-[number]; M-1 ships are 7K-TGM1-[number].
  • The designation Progress M-XXM (where XX = 01, 02, 03 etc.) has been chosen for Progress M cargo ships with a new onboard computer, TsVM-101, a digital telemetry system. Currently the Progress M cargo ships use an old onboard computer, Argon-16. Progress M-01M (No. 401) will launch on 18 August 2008.
  • Zvezda has its aft (rear) port available for Progress and Soyuz dockings; Pirs and Zarya each have a nadir (bottom) port.
  • Launch dates are in UTC/GMT time.
  • The ships are linked to their TsUP mission page (in Russian) where available, and their numbers in brackets are linked to launch pages at the Roskosmos site. For translators, try Babelfish, Google or Promt.
